Maraudes
Labyrinth is a work of art which embodies the
myth of Maraude and the Destruction of the World.
Maraude is a character from mythology who set
out to take over the world and in the process
destroys everything, making it impossible for
everything and everyone to live. Chaos
occurs with the destruction of the world. Great
rains fall upon the earth and flood all of
the land of the world. Out of the ocean
arises a cocoon containing the seed which will
grow to become the tree of life from which
all life on earth emanates. Mankind is
reborn and a new beginning occurs for humanity
to live in the world.
The labyrinth is
designed so that the viewer can walk through
it completely and meditate upon the story carved
into its walls. Each panel of the labyrinth,
36 in all, depicts a scene from Maraude’s
Myth, and the ability to see through the entire
piece, allows the viewer to experience how Maraude
felt before his demise.
